Letter of Credit. Selling a product to a customer is often a leap of faith. Short of requesting cash on delivery or prepayment (предоплата), you are trusting that your customer will pay as promised. Requesting a letter of credit from your customer requires that he goes to a bank and receive a letter stating the bank will pay after you provide the letter and proof of delivery. A letter of credit eliminates (исключает) any financial risk to the seller because the payment comes from the third-party – bank, and not the purchaser.

Letter of Guarantee. A letter of guarantee acts like a letter of credit with one important distinction (различие) – the letter of guarantee pays another party if the first one does not fulfill (выполнять) the transaction's requirements. For example, if you pay your supplier (поставщик) for a shipment before delivery and do not receive your product, and you asked the supplier for a letter of guarantee before sending payment, the bank must reimburse (возвращать, возмещать) you for the undelivered product. The letter of guarantee entitles you to reimbursement without having to go to court if the shipper (поставщик груза) is unable to produce proof of delivery.

Recommendation letter. The 1st paragraph should start out by stating your relationship to the applicant and how long you’ve known him or her. The 2nd paragraph should be focused on the applicant; it should give an overview of the candidate, his/her strength and qualities. The closing paragraph should reiterate (повторять) that the applicant would be a good employee or student and add any additional comments that you may want to bring up. You can also write about why you think the applicant will be a good fit with the company. Also let the reader know that he/she can contact you if they have any additional questions.

Complaint letter (Рекламация — претензия покупателя или заказчика, предъявляемая продавцу или поставщику по поводу ненадлежащего качества или количества поставляемого товара, требование об устранении недостатков, снижении цены, возмещении убытков). Should be addressed to the costumer affairs department (отдел по делам потребителей) or to the head office if there is no costumer service. The address and contact information of the costumer service department should be available on the company’s web-site. In the 1st paragraph you should identify what the issue is and any information that you believe is important. Include the following information:
• The date, time;
• Location;
• Name of a person in duty (человек, который Вас обслуживал);
• Name of product;
• What the problem was;
• Your account number (номер счета);
• Product model number and price.
The next paragraph should state what you would like to be done to resolve the situation. The last paragraph should thank the reader for the time. You can also through in some compliments about something you like about their company’s product or service. You should include your telephone number, e-mail address after your printed name, so that they can contact you ASAP if necessary.

Event Invitation Letter. Such types of letter (please see the picture below) are written to invite clients, customers and business partners when there is any sort of event. The letter stresses on how your participation in the event will help in making the event a success. The letter is a medium to announce the event to your business contacts. A business event is mostly organized, as platform to promote and advertise their wares (товары, продукты, изделия). Not only this, but also to make people, aware of (быть осведомленным о) the future plans of the company. These events are very formal and are mostly followed by dinner. These black tie (официальный прием) affairs are aimed to create an ambience (обстановка, окружение, среда) to please prospective clients. So when writing an event invitation letter makes sure that the language of the letter is formal yet pleasing. The invitation should be sent about 2 or 3 weeks before the event. The abbreviation RSVP (фр. repondez s’il vous plait) is written on the right-hand side = please send your reply. The answer to formal invitation is written in the 3rd person without the opening salutation, the complementary closing or signature.
