Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council has revealed, through his Instagram and Twitter accounts, the expected launch of Dubai360.com, a project unparalleled anywhere in the world, that is set to showcase full 360 degrees virtual tours of Dubai.
On his Instagram page, Sheikh Hamdan posted:
«Soon, we will launch Dubai360.com, the world’s leading immersive virtual city tour. It is a groundbreaking website that will enable you to explore Dubai from anywhere in the world.»As a sneak preview of the kind of amazing content to come, here you can experience what it's like to be stood on the top of the control tower at Dubai International Airport. The timelapse below was shoot over a 30 hour period depicting over 1,000 planes landing, taking off, and taxiing at the airport.
Dubai360 was shot with four perfectly synchronized Canon 1Dx cameras. Over 88,000 photographs were taken over the course of the 30 hours of shooting, with one set of photographs being taken every 5 seconds.
4x 8-15mm Lenses. Lenses on the cameras were Canon EF 8-15mm f4 L USM fisheye zooms. These photographs were then stitched using Kolor Autopano Video into 22,000 separate panoramas to create the source frames for the video you can experience above.
